Garbage Disposal Jammed:

1. Do not stick your hand in the disposal.
2. Check the base of the disposal under the sink for a re-set button.

Plumbing stoppage or leak:

1. Use a plunger to unclog the stoppage yourself.
2. Check to see if the chain is loose or has fallen off the inside of the toilet tank & replace it.
   
3. Remove any foreign objects & keep water mopped up until maintenance arrives.
   
4. If you have uncontrollable water leaking and do not get a response from maintenance, call a plumber from the yellow pages. If the toilet is overflowing, turn off the water valve (located on the wall behind the toilet, usually down by the floor.A/C & Heating
   * It is mandatory that you change your filter monthly.
   * A properly functioning air conditioner will cool to about 15 - 20 cooler that the intake temperature.
   

If your a/c or heater stops working:

1. Always check the breaker box first breakers will trip due to too many appliances running at the same time. Flip all the breakers back & forth one time, including the big one in the middle.
   
2. Check for ice on the unit - if there is ice outside or inside, turn off the unit and call maintenance.
   
3. Check you’re A/C filter. (Once per month)Washer & Dryer

If your Washer or Dryer stops working:

1. Check the exhaust pipe behind the dryer if it is crimped it will not dry.
2. Check the lint trap if it is full it will not dry.
   
3. Make sure your washing machine is balanced they can become unbalanced as a result of overloading them. A balanced washer will spin & clean better.

Dishwasher
If your Dishwasher is not working properly:

1. Check for a switch near the sink that may have been turned off. If you've stopped the dishwasher mid-cycle drain water before re-starting. Make sure there's no food in the bottom of the dishwasher that could cause stoppages.

Smoke Detector

1. If your smoke detector chirps you need to change the 9V battery. You must not disengage your smoke detector. This is a violation of your lease. Please test them monthly (perhaps at the same time as changing the a/c filter).
